“Butcher Block Top” DROP LEAF TABLE with Matching Stools

Just Fine Tables recently finished Refinishing and Up-styling a “Heavy Butcher Block Top” Drop Leaf Table and its two (2) Matching Stools while building a few custom tables. In addition to this drop leaf table having a one of a kind “Butcher Block” top, its legs are supported on casters to allow easy relocation (for example: cleaning underneath).

Here is the BUTCHER BLOCK TABLE and Stools as (it was displayed at Encore Resales Consignment and Furniture Store) — The Table SOLD and is being Enjoyed by its New Owner-

As noted in the picture caption, the Drop Leaf Table expands from 20″ x 36″ (with leaves down) to a Full 36″ x 48″ (with both leaves up) and secured in place.

Additionally, while refinishing the drop leaf table above, Just Fine Tables had the pleasant opportunity to help our partner, J’s-AVE, with one of her projects. Her project was the refinishing and up-styling of a Unique Dual-Pedestal Base Coffee Table.

CUSTOM HANDMADE ‘Rustic’ and ‘Country Estate’ FARM TABLES

Here are a couple of pictures of Just Fine Tables’ custom Farm Tables built and delivered to customers in December 2012.

We mentioned in a previous post that Just Fine Tables could build only two (2) Custom Farm Tables before the Christmas holidays. Here are the farm tables we built and delivered:

Custom “Country Estate” Farm Table:

CUSTOM COUNTRY ESTATE FARM TABLE (37" X 74") -- Seats 6 to 8

Please note this Country Estate Farm Table is virtually identical to previous farm tables built by Just Fine Tables; however, this table is 100% stained to match the customer’s existing chairs and related furniture.

The table was ordered by the customer directly through Encore Resales and because this table had to be delivered by Encore Resales with additional furniture, we were unable to be part of the delivery team to the customer’s home. (That is why the edited picture above shows the table just before it was loaded into the Encore Resales delivery van. The extra legs and shoes Are Not part of the table.).

HOWEVER, the Customer “Made our December” by sending us an email after the delivery. Here is the first part of the email-

[Hi Frank. I just wanted to send you an email and let you know that I LOVE my table. Its so beautiful. I just want to stay home tonight and look at it. The stain is perfect and I can’t wait to sit down and have a meal on it.]

Both custom farm tables were hand built from scratch, except that the table legs were purchased ‘turned’ table legs from Osborne Wood Products. Of course, Just Fine Tables did the staining, finishing, and added the attachment hardware to allow the table legs to be removable.

Country FARM TABLE and Matching RUSTIC BENCH

Just Fine Tables just finished building and delivering this customer requested Hand Built COUNTRY FARM TABLE and Matching RUSTIC BENCH.

The customer specified that a sturdy rustic farm table sized approximately 32″ x 54″ would fit nicely in their eating area. The customer also wanted a rustic ‘matching’ bench to go with the Country Farm Table.

As you can see in the picture, the color scheme was for the table and bench tops to be stained semi-dark and that the legs and aprons on both to be painted white and at the same time; to look old, distressed, and beat up to a degree. (The customer has young kids.)

The above table is the 1st of our customer requests to be filled this month (recall that Just Fine Tables could only fill 2 table requests this month and that orders were 1st come, 1st served).
Our 2nd table in being built currently to be complete within the next 4-5 days. It will be very similar to our “Country Chic” Farm Table with the only real difference being that the table will be stained only (i.e. no paint).

Note: Just Fine Tables has One More Opening / Order Available for a custom Farm Table to be built in January. Again, 1st Come, 1st Served.

CUSTOM Hand-built KITCHEN ISLAND

Just Fine Tables completed the CUSTOMER Requested HAND-BUILT KITCHEN ISLAND we mentioned in an earlier post and delivered the kitchen island to the customer on Halloween.

Here it is set-up in its new home-

24" x 48" HAND-BUILT KITCHEN ISLAND with POTS & PANS STORAGE

You will note that Pots & Pans are stored underneath the island. This was a customer request due to limited counter space in the customer’s kitchen. Hope you like the kitchen island. The customer does and was kind enough to send me the picture above.

While building the kitchen island, we were also building some additional items for the greater Birmingham, Alabama furniture market. One of these items is the Distressed (almost square) Coffee Table shown here.

A Metal Based Glass Top Table has been Refinished and Updated to be a Beautiful and Useable Outdoor Deck or Porch Table. The refinished and updated table has a new ‘treated wood’ stained top which we attached to the original metal base. The base is painted Heirloom White.

DROP LEAF TABLE (Dark Stained Oak Top w/ Distressed Cottage White Legs & Skirt)

Just Fine Tables completed the refinishing and updating of a cute and useful DROP LEAF TABLE. The table has a dark stained oak top with the legs and skirt being cottage white and accent distressed. The table’s dimensions are 24″ / 38″ x 42″ with the leaves down or expanded, respectfully.

Country Table and Chair Set

Just Fine Tables just completed a Small Country Table and combined it with Four Distressed Cottage White Chairs. Note: THE TABLE SOLD

The table has a Hand-crafted Stained Maple Top with the table’s Base and Legs being Painted Cottage White for that down home look. The chairs are solid wood chairs that have been painted and distressed and the seats have been re-upholstered with coffee sack burlap. Note: One of the chairs is an Arm Chair.

While completing the table and chairs above, Just Fine Tables was also re-finishing / upgrading a Headboard we found needing a little TLC. The Headboard which works as a Full or Queen Headboard was redone in a very lightly distressed Heirloom White. ((Note: THE HEADBOARD SOLD))
Just add a bed frame and a mattress set and you’ll be off to dream land before you know it.

ROUND, OVAL, or SQUARE ‘Drop Leaf’ TABLE with MATCHING CHAIRS

-THIS TABLE AND CHAIR SET HAS SOLD–
The Drop Leaf Dining / Country Table that converts from a 42″ Square Table to a 60″ Round Table is complete with its Six (6) Upholstered Matching Chairs. It is currently in Booth 47 / 469 at Encore Resales Furniture and Consignment Store.
The Dining / Country Table is unique in that it has Four (4) Drop Leaves that convert the table from Square, to Oval, to completely Round based upon which and how many leaves you open.
The chairs are solid oak and have newly re-upholstered seats with two of the solid oak chairs being arm chairs.
The table itself has a refinished dark stained crisscrossed oak top. It sits upon a pedestal based composed of four (4) heavy’carved / turned’ legs. The table base and chairs have been painted ‘Cottage White’ and Distressed to be Warm and Enjoyable.

FYI-The above was a major furniture refinishing project that has been in progress over the past couple of weeks. Since there were multiple steps to this refinishing / upgrading project, we at Just Fine Tables had other projects underway at the same time.
Of those other projects, our major project under construction and nearing completion is another Alabama Handmade Thick Pine Top FARM TABLE. When completed, it will be virtually identical to the one shown here.

Man Cave Coffee Table Sold – New Wine Bar-Buffet Table

We recently completed a nearly square Man Cave Coffee Table and delivered it to our friendly consignment store, Encore Resales in Pelham, AL three (3) days ago and it sold yesterday. It was built with a distressed and stained maple top with legs and skirt painted black. The legs especially, and the skirt to a minimal degree were also distressed to maintain the Man Cave theme. (Please know that this 44″ x 40″ distressed coffee table would make a useable accent in most anyone’s home.)

“BARLEY TWIST” Base – Stained Top COFFEE TABLE

A “BARLEY TWIST” Base – Handmade Stained Top COFFEE TABLE has been completed and is now available at Encore Resales Furniture and Consignment Store. The all wood Barley Twist Base has bee painted black with some light distressing for charm.

The combination of the stained top and the black base offers many opportunities to use this coffee table in any number of furniture and room settings, such as, in your den or family room, your office, or maybe even in one’s Man Cave or She Lair. Again, this coffee table offers many potential settings.

Speaking of room settings… some folks will recall that Just Fine Tables was building a Custom 9 Foot Long Entertainment Center Top (like our Dark Thick Pine Farm Table Tops) for a customer who wanted a top for their custom base cabinets. The total Entertainment Center has been completed and is shown below in the owner’s Tuscaloosa, AL home.

‘Butterfly Leaf” Country Farm Table– SOLD

A Butterfly Leaf Table was recently Refinished to Become a Country Farm Table with Built-in Butterfly Leaves for table expansion HAS SOLD. The now Country Farm Table is normally 48″ long allowing up to four people to be seated and to dine comfortably. However, by opening the built-in leaves, the table expands to 60″ allowing up to six people to dine comfortably.

Yes, it is an antique ( that means old ) and yes, it is built of almost 100% cedar. It has all copper hardware for the lid and push button opener (no key, but if you know a good locksmith?, you can fix that…) and it has recently had installed old handles to allow semi-easy relocation.

Table-Desk: MAPLE TOP ‘Saw Horse’ TABLE-DESK

A new Handmade Saw Horse Table-Desk with a Stained Maple Top is located in Booth 47 / 469 at Encore Resales Furniture and Consignment store in Pelham, AL.

Please note that this saw horse table-desk is similar to previous ones. It is based upon a picture of a fabric covered door laying on a couple of saw horses found in an article from “Southern Living” magazine (January 2011 issue).

The major difference in Just Fine Tables’ versions is that we build it from 100% wood that is completely attached to result in one continuous unit for stability and functionality.

WINE BAR – BUFFET TABLE

A new Handmade Wine Bar-Buffet Table has been completed and is currently available to you for viewing and ownership at Encore Resales Furniture and Consignment Store.
This Wine Bar-Buffet Table was built with a single plank top of thick poplar wood. It comes with two (2) built-in shelves and a total of 10 wine bottle storage.

Oh by the way… you may have been asking what happened to our most recent “Country Chic” Big Farm Table. Well, it had a makeover of its skirt and legs to be black, much like many of our other farm tables, Country Tables, and most of our handmade coffee tables.
The table legs and skirt needed to be black to complement its new owner’s home.

We haven’t been sitting around at Just Fine Tables, but have been busier than ever. Here are some other projects complete or nearly complete.

1. A new handmade “Southern Living” Magazine SAW HORSE TABLE-DESK has been completed and is currently on display at Encore Resales. (will provide a picture soon)

2. Our recent Cedar Chest was updated to look as close to its true old age while being more compatible with today’s Birmingham furniture clientele. The Cedar Chest is at Encore Resales also.

AND,

3. A Butterfly Leaf Table has been Refinished be a Country Table that will seat up to six. This Now… Butterfly Leaf ‘Country Table’ will be at Encore Resales today. Please note that we are giving Serious Consideration to adding six country style ladder back chairs to go with this table to provide a complete ensemble.
