A Trestle Table has been on our minds to build for a long time.  We have had the base parts for a trestle table sitting in our shop for well over a year.  My partner, J’s-AVE, found a complete trestle table and we took the top off and used it as the top of a kitchen island.  As mentioned, we held the trestle base back for an alternate project which you now see.

The hickory planks used for the hand built table top have been in our shop for about six months.  When we found them at Hardwoods, Inc., we just had to have them.  They were beautiful with the grain and heart section of the hickory trees from which they were cut.  We were just waiting for what we would do with them… and finally we decided to match them with the trestle base we had.

FYI- We named the table “OLD HICKORY” as the top is 100% hickory and because we are originally from Tennessee where Andrew Jackson (aka ‘Old Hickory’), our 7th US President lived.

Hope you enjoy the Hickory Trestle Based Farm Table.  Please know that we will be creating additional tables and refinishing and re-purposing additional furniture pieces for the greater Birmingham AL furniture market after we return to Alabama.

This Wine Bar – Buffet Table has an Aged Oak Top.  Additionally, it has two (2) shelves having ten (10) total slots for convenient wine storage.

Custom Farmhouse Table with Matching Bench

Just Fine Tables recently completed a Custom Farmhouse Table with a Matching Bench. Here is the Farmhouse Table and Matching Bench as setup in the customer’s dining area.

The customer requested the size of the table and the table top (Harvest Table from Just Fine Tables) and also selected the matching table and bench legs from Osborne Wood Products, Inc.

While completing the above table and bench, Just Fine Tables completed a couple of other projects. One of the projects was the refinishing and upgrading of a beautiful pedestal table and four matching chairs.

The Round Pedestal Table is shown in the picture with the 18″ Leaf to make the table a 42″ x 60″ Oval Table.

In addition to the above tables, Just Fine Tables built a 3′ x 4′ Four Seat Country Table. The table was built with 1″ solid wood top that was stained and lightly distressed. We added Osborne Wood Product’s “Miller Farmhouse Table Legs” and painted and distressed them Cottage White along with the table skirt.

The Farmhouse Table is a big 37″ x 70″ size that will easily seat up to eight (8) hungry diners in style.  The Matching Bench is 14″ x 55″ and will seat 3 folks on one side.   Add a few chairs and you’ll be good to enjoy the full benefits of this ensemble’s offering.

Please note that this Farmhouse Table and Bench are useable for both indoors or outdoor settings (ex: – your porch).  This is because the all wood table and bench are constructed from aged pressure treated lumber and both are coated with an outdoor polyurethane coating.

Our recent Six (6 foot) OUTDOOR – INDOOR FARM TABLE was in one day and out the next at ENCORE RESALES.  That’s right!; our newest Farm Table found a new home in only one day.

And now for something different… We thought it might be nice to share a couple of items from our partner, J’s-AVE, that you might find while looking around at Encore Resales.

It should be noted from the picture that the small table has no paint on the the legs and skirt compared to the six foot farm table.  At the same time, it should be noted that both tables were rapidly aged and weathered and were coated with an outdoor polyurethane finish for extraordinary life and use.

HAND BUILT Rustic FARM TABLES

Just Fine Tables has completed the building of our first two Rustic Hand Built Farm Tables,  typical of those found at luxury furniture stores like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. In our case, we have started with a couple of smaller tables with plans to build at least 4-5 larger ones.

Our first Rustic Hand Built Farm Table is one built with Rough Cut Ash Hardwood that has been aged and weathered to give it character and charm. The Ash Top and Skirt is supported on four removable old farm table legs.  We took a little extra time to distinctively age and weather the legs to match the table’s skirt, which in combination provides a contrasting accent to the rustic table top.

Our second Hand Built Farm Table is one that can have many uses. It can be a kitchen table, a small dining table, a card table, or a porch table. This table is one built entirely of pine that has been aged and weathered very much like the table shown above. It’s not fancy, but you have to admit that it does have character and charm.

Custom Wine Bar Buffet Table and Restored Antique Bench

Just Fine Tables completed the building of a Custom Wine Bar Buffet Table and also Restored a Unique Antique Solid Oak Bench the last part of May.

The Custom Wine Bar was requested to be a near duplicate to one built back in August 2012. The difference is that the new one is slightly larger and has a single maple plank top instead of a single plank poplar top.

The other big project Just Fine Tables undertook was to successfully Restore a Truly Unique Antique Solid Oak Bench that my partner, J’s-AVE, purchased well over a year ago. Our original intent was to make the bench into a hall tree. However, as we looked at options, we decided that restoring the bench was a better idea.

SMALL ‘Outdoor’ or ‘Indoor’ TABLE

Just Fine Tables just delivered a new Small ‘Outdoor’ – ‘Indoor’ Table to Encore Resales. This is a replacement for the Small Table – Island shown in our previous post that Sold.
This Outdoor – Indoor Table is similarly built, slightly larger, and constructed as a table that can be used most anywhere!

This table, like the one previously, is built entirely of pressure treated lumber to ensure long term service regardless of where the table is used. We hope you like it and the Rustic Looking Bench my partner, J’s-AVE, added to it.

More Rustic, Hand Built, Tables are on the way to Encore Resales, or Directly to You upon Request!!  Currently, Just Fine Tables has one more table like the above, but slightly larger, and Viola, we are finally completing an Outside Buffet Bar Table that we started building over 2 years ago. Outdoor-Indoor Table or Small Short Table Island

After our Big Ticket Items (see composite picture at bottom of post) decided to find new homes…..

Just Fine Tables luckily was in the process of completing a small Outdoor-Indoor Table that could be used anywhere. It is a table designed for sitting things on while entertaining, or the like. And, as you can see, it has a storage rack below (the rack was added for storage on the 30″ tall table).

The table is built completely with treated lumber and is partially stained with deck stain. Other parts are painted with exterior paint and the entire table has had an application of exterior polyurethane for superior protection and long term service.

As you can see in the picture, new homes were found for our Handmade Farm Table with Matching Bench and Chairs, our Refinished Round Pedestal Table with 2 Leaves and Six Up-Styled Chairs (originally built in Italy), and last, but not least… a 40″ Square Outdoor – Indoor Coffee Table.

Just Fine Tables has been quite busy recently completing a number of projects, and as a result, we have been a little behind updating our website.

Note: This small table was rebuilt from a slightly larger table that Just Fine Tables purchased from a friend. This was a fun project as this was the first time we had ever re-sized a table.

Note: My partner and I found this unique lingerie chest in a Memphis, TN Goodwill store and brought it back to Alabama in the back seat of our car ( very tight fit). We took our time making some minor repairs and re-styling it to today’s furniture tastes.

FYI- The Lingerie Chest became a perfect example of an Encore Resales slogan (i.e.”Buy it when you see it!”) The chest found a new owner within 3.5 hours of arriving at the Encore Resales store.

The CUSTOM “RUSTIC” PORCH TABLE

The Custom ‘Rustic’ Porch Table was Completed and Delivered to its New Owner. The Porch Table will find its final home in the owner’s lake house getaway’s screened porch.

[ FYI 1- I had a couple of comments from the new Porch Table’s owner- 1) He commented that the table was solidly built to last for a long long time when he saw all the lag screws used underneath to hold the top together, and 2) I learned that he had picked up and kept one of my old business cards from two years ago when he was in visiting Encore Resales. ]
( FYI 2- Just Fine Tables does our best to ensure that we not only deliver what the customer wants, but that we do our best to Over Deliver what the customer wants to ensure a happy customer. And, showing your wares like we do at Encore Resales and having business cards available for potential customers to pick up are very good things for one’s business.)

If you are looking at the pictures, you can get a feel that each and every item in our booth has had an affectionate amount of TLC added. Some of our TLC will be in the form of ‘Built from Scratch’ and our other TLC will be in the form of Refinished, Up-Styled, and/or Re-Purposed wants for discerning customers wanting character, uniqueness, and long-term enjoyment in their furniture items.

p.s. Just Fine Tables is building a matching bench to go with the farm table in the above picture. It will be added to the table with the four (4) black chairs as a complete dining ensemble. The matching bench should be complete by this week.

RUSTIC PORCH TABLE for a Lake Side Getaway

JUST FINE TABLES is in the process of completing a Customer Requested Porch Table to go into their lake side getaway. It is not complete yet, but I thought it cool to let you see it in construction. Why?, because we normally build tables upside down. Seriously, we build tables upside down.

The table will be righted later today and the finishing touches applied to make it look old with lots and lots of old wood and used character.

I know that folks like to see finished products, but again, I thought it cool to let you have a feel for what really happens in our workshop.

54” ROUND “Solid Oak” PEDESTAL TABLE

Just Fine Tables recently completed the Refinishing of a 54” Solid Oak PEDESTAL TABLE and its two (2) leaves.  Yes, you read that correctly, this solid wood pedestal table has two (2) 10” leaves that allows the already large table to expand to be a massive 54” x 74” Oval table that easily seats 6 people.  And, as you can see in the picture below, everything fits perfectly.

This table looked terrible when Just Fine Tables found it as someone had attempted to redo the round top of the table.  It looked as if a very dark stain (like Ebony) had been poured (not applied) on the existing finished top without any necessary surface preparation like stripping and sanding.  Sorry, no before restoration picture.  We didn’t want to break your computer with such a picture.

Just Fine Tables painted the table base and skirt cottage white and distressed it some to give the table more character.  We thought it only appropriate to accent the table to bring out its original beauty and quality.

Last minute item! — My partner, J’s-AVE, wanted me to show this Old Hand Built ‘Reclaimed Wood’ Bench that she took to ENCORE RESALES with the hope of finding it a new owner. Here is the bench.
