It had been at least three years since we built our last “Sawhorse Table Desk” and when we found some sawhorse patterns, we thought it was about time to build one. Having looked at sawhorse desks online and having seen some with shelves, we made ours combining our old style with shelves. Here is what we built.
HANDMADE SAWHORSE TABLE DESK:
SOLID WOOD “SAWHORSE TABLE DESK” (28″ x 66″ x 30″)
The Sawhorse Table Desk shown above was displayed in our booth at ENCORE RESALES, Pelham, AL. We had expected it to show for a couple of weeks there with the expectation that it would sell before the end of July. Well, we were off a little on the timing. It showed at Encore for about a week and someone decided it should be relocated to their home (yes, it sold). [ Now, Just Fine Tables is jumping through hoops to build something to fill the void that is in our booth. So… we are going to build a simple Rustic Farm Table as a replacement. NOTE: Just Fine Tables expects to have the new table to Encore Resales sometime the week of July 25. ]
Just as we had sold our Sawhorse Table Desk quickly, a similar thing happened for my life’s partner, J’s-AVE, at our other consignment store, UPSCALE RESALE, Covington, TN. In J’s case, she had diligently been working on a Kidney Shaped Desk that we found about two months before… (yes, sometimes it takes a while to complete projects to our liking). [A little history: J’s-Ave had previously had a six-drawer vanity desk at Upscale that she thought would sell semi-quickly. Well, it took over two months before it found a new home.]
You guessed it… the new KIDNEY SHAPED DESK sold in less than one week at Upscale Resale in our booth there.

As mentioned, it took about two months before the desk was ready for display for sales. So… what did the desk look like two months before? Here is a picture of it beforehand.

As you can see, there is a lot of difference in these pictures. The Beforehand Picture shows the desk with two empty drawer slots (OK, one shows the bottom of one box that Just Fine Tables built to fill the gaping holes.) and the old look. We also had to improve the existing drawers to fit correctly as part of the upgrade. Hope you like the changes we made in the desk.
Since the Kidney Shaped Desk sold so quickly, J’s-AVE and Just Fine Tables joined forces together to fill the void in our booth at Upscale Resale. Our combined efforts led to the building of a small indoor / outdoor bench from a twin sized Jenny Lind headboard and building a bench seat. Here is the bench that we replaced the Kidney Shaped Desk with in our Upscale Resale booth.
